The marketing company NPD revealed the list of the games who sold the most copies in March 2017. On the top position, we have Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands, a tactical shooter with an open world perspective. It succeeded in overpassing big names on the list, such as Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Ubisoft, top sales for two months in a row
Ubisoft enjoyed a great beginning of 2017. March was the second month in a row when one of their games was the best selling title of the month. In February, Ubisoft’s For Honor sold the most copies. This achievement was more impressive than that of Wildlands.
For Honor, a historical game, made its debut closer to the end of the months, and it still reached the first place on the best selling games list. Wildlands was released at the beginning of March, but it still had to combat some fierce competitors on its way to the top.
At the time when Wildlands was released, there was a lot of interest regarding the game and its universe. Since then, people seem to have become less interested, and switched their attention towards other titles. However, Ubisoft prepared a Narco Road DLC. Those who are still captivated by the game universe will be able to enjoy it starting with the end of this month.
Breath of the Wild, an impressive number of sales
The second place was occupied by Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which came as a big surprise for everybody. This game recorded an incredible number of sales, and people were expecting it to win the award of the best selling game of the month. Some people even preordered a version of the game for Nintendo Switch even though they did not own a console yet.
Actually, Breath of the Wild was sold exclusively for Nintendo Switch. This comes again as surprising, as games exclusively available for one console could not outsell multiplatform titles. Thus, a second place for the Nintendo title is a huge achievement.
There are other big titles present in the Top 10 Games of March 2017. The third place is occupied by Mass Effect: Andromeda, while on the fourth lies Horizon: Zero Dawn. These games are followed by MLB 17: The Show, Grand Theft Auto 5, For Honor, NBA 2K17, NieR: Automata, and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
